This on-going project involved evaluation of the physical setup and soil and salinity conditions for production farming system. The area under this review was 49,000 ha. Irrigation systems included center pivot systems each irrigating an area of 50 ha and drip systems for grapes production. Activities included assessment of soil conditions based previous investigations, review of design of pump stations and irrigation network, development of a salinity management program to reclaim salt-affected lands, designing extensive drainage system, and planning and setting the terms of reference and scope of work for a geophysical study and future activities. A second phase of activities.

 currently underway involves design of complete irrigation infrastructure for 7,000 hectares. This includes, storage reservoirs, pump stations, and over 88 km of pipe networks with pipe sizes ranging from 250 mm to 1,000 mm.
